This week we wanted to share with you a lovely family bathroom we designed and installed for a client in Streetly, near Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands.

This particular client had recently moved into the property and updating the main family bathroom was high on the priority list, as they had discovered a leak which was affecting the kitchen below. Design wise, it was important to the client for us to create a room that was contemporary without being too modern. They liked the traditional feel and wanted to keep elements of that in the design of the room and the fittings used within it.

A key part of the client’s brief was to include a separate shower area and it was this element that influenced the layout of the room. The property we were working in had sloped ceilings and certain areas of the room were different heights. So the layout chosen was the only option that allowed the inclusion of a separate shower area.

Another challenging part of this particular project came with the tiles selected. The tiles came in several formats – a skirting tile, decorative bottom panel, border panel and then the top decorative panel. With this in mind, the floor had to go down first so that the skirting tile ran perfectly around the room at one level.

The floor also has under floor heating. We installed the under floor heating matt, then once it had been tested and we were confident all was working perfectly, the floor was self levelled leaving it ready for tiling.

As ever, the brands we choose to work with and install, offer only the highest quality products available. The brands used in this project were: Mereway, Vitra, Rak, Warm up, Grohe and Simpsons.
